This powder compact from the 1940's is especially sweet and lovely, and in very very very good vintage condition.

Measuring 2 3/4" in diameter, this darling piece sports an exquisite white enamel lid on which are hand painted blue and pink flowers with GOLD GILT stems and leaves.

This darling opens to reveal a beautiful beveled mirror that is in great condition and which gives clear, clean and non distorted images.

The powder well top is unblemished brass and it clicks open to reveal an unused powder well.

There is no screen or puff.

The back of the compact is also brass and could benefit from a gentle cleaning but is in excellent condition (see photos).

The lid is just so very pretty! There is NO ENAMEL LOSS on the lid save for a teensy bit on the EDGES near the functional push-in clasp. This is hardly noticeable, but I mention it for accuracy sake.

The piece, due to the enamel and brass, has a delicious weight to it and is endlessly pretty and endearing.

What a wondrous gift for a bride or young girl....or for yourself!

If you're one who is always interested in using something in a way other than intended, I find these beautiful items make excellent card cases or double picture frames.
