Description

Honor your loved one with this beautiful custom rosette! Hand-sewn black satin ribbon mourning badge with a lovely filigree bezel frame in the center. Email me your photo and I will put it in the center! Attaches with a silver plated pin. Approximately 3" (7.5 cm) across rosette. Pin back is approximately 1" (2.5 cm) across.

PHOTO
Order your cockade. Then use the "Contact Shop Owner" button to send me a message with your photo. Or you can attach the photo in an email to me at creativecockades[at sign]gmail.com. I can use any type of digital photo.

I will be happy to crop the photo for you if it's too big or includes too much excess "stuff." I generally do just a head shot since a full-body shot will look very tiny on the cockade. However, if you prefer otherwise, just let me know.

HISTORY
Cockades were often used in history to express a political sentiment. But they were also used as an expression of grief if one was in mourning for someone. Mourning fashions reached their height during the Victorian era. Queen Victoria's husband died young and she stayed in mourning attire the rest of her life. The Civil War brought death to nearly every family in America. Both of these events caused a boom in mourning clothing and accessories. Mourning cockades with a small photo of the loved one were often used.
