Description

A stunning strapless original 1950’s gown in a confection of creamy ivory tulle, satin and embroidered lace. What a statement this gown would make at the approaching prom season. No maker's label but this dress appears professionally made. No fabric contents label but this is likely a synthetic blend.

Note the details on this stunning gown – strapless (boned) embroidered lace over taffeta bodice with pleated tulle accent at the bustline, and the very full layered tulle skirt with lace cape overlay with scalloped edging. There are actually three layers to this skirt – an underlayer of ivory satin acetate, a middle tiered layer of ivory tulle to give the skirt extra body, topped with a layer of lace, backed with tulle.

This dress closes down the side with a hidden metal zipper and fastener. The entire dress is lined in ivory satin acetate. The dress is photographed using a crinoline to show the skirt to full advantage – the crinoline is not included.

No vintage size label, so please see measurements below for a proper fit. This is an extremely small size that would only fit a modern size 0 . The ribcage area (below the bust) is extremely narrow at only 27".

Condition

This dress is in excellent vintage condition. No stains and underarms are clean. Amazingly I found no tears in the lace overlay. No significant exterior defects to note.
