Description

This is a larvikite and chalk turquoise, big and bold statement necklace that would be a great Christmas present or December birthday gift. It which measures a full 24 1/2 inches (62.2 cm) including the toggle clasp. The necklace was constructed of rondelles of larvikite separated by silver plated 4mm round spacer beads and accented by three 19x16mm six-sided chalk turquoise drum beads asymetrically positioned on one side. The necklace is strung on flexible beading wire and is finished with a toggle clasp.

Larvikite is a member of the Feldspar family. The name originates from the Larvik Fjord region in Norway, where this igneous rock is found. It is sometimes called "Black Moonstone" and even "Black or Blue Labradorite". Some consider Larvikite to be a protective and grounding rock. As a member of the Feldspar family it gives off a beautiful silver blue iridescence called the Schiller Effect when light reflects off its inner deposits of crystals.

Likewise, Turquoise has been thought to be a holy stone, a bringer of good fortune or a talisman. In ancient Egypt the stone was worn around the neck or wrist to ward off unnatural death. It was felt that if the stone changed color (which is possible when the natural stone is exposed to body oils, chemicals or the sun), it was a sign of impending danger. Its popularity remains strong today. Chalk turquoise is American turquoise which in its raw form is unsuitable for jewelry, however, it is stabilized with resin and plasticizers to create a turquoise which not only mimics the look of sleeping beauty turquoise but is more stable and also resists the chemical reactions which discolor other turquoise. Turquoise is the December birthstone.

FAQs

All orders are shipped with insurance and tracking where possible. All orders are packaged carefully to best assure it is delivered in good condition. I package all orders in cotton or polyester filled gift boxes suitable for gift presentation. All orders include a receipt. If the item is shipped as a gift, please leave a note so I can include a gift receipt identifying the buyer but omitting all pricing information. If you wish to have a card or note included at no additional cost, leave instructions in a note with your order.
I am located in Fabulous Las Vegas, Nevada and therefore collect Nevada Sales Tax on all orders shipped to addresses within the State of Nevada. In 2018, new sales tax legislation became effective requiring the collection of sales tax for all orders shipped to the States of Washington and Pennsylvania.
I happily ship to all countries where shipping is available. I ship via USPS. Importation of some items are not allowed by some countries. Please check import restrictions of your country prior to purchasing. I cannot anticipate the time it will take an order to clear customs so I am unable to provide delivery estimates for international shipments. Import fees and VAT are charges levied by countries to support their local industries so they are the responsibility of the buyer and cannot be added to my shipping charges. It is common practice for orders subject to import fees to have additional service charges assessed for the collection of fees. I will only include true information on customs forms and will not mark as gift.
If your order is damaged during shipment, inform me immediately by Etsy Conversation upon receipt. Retain the item and all packaging materials. The insurance investigation may require photos of the item and packaging and an affidavit from the buyer.
