I have been asked about the best way to clean my burlap purses. They should be spot clean only. I can't stress enough that I cannot guarantee the results if you wash them, but there is something that has worked twice that I know of. A friend spilled coffee into the one I gave her and I dropped mine in the mud. What worked was to turn it wrong side out, place it in a zippered lingerie bag, wash on delicate and hang dry. I only recommend trying this first rather than throwing it away if you think you've ruined it and like the examples given, spot cleaning won't work. If there are decorative buttons I especially can't guarantee these will wash. Spot clean only is still best.
