This pendant is inspired by a trip to Copenhagen earlier this year. I saw a lot of buildings with one brick wall that had plants growing up them. I was there in March, so there was no leaves yet.
A lot of Danish design contains and is based around spheres.
This design just popped into my head as I was riding the bus, I almost missed my stop because I was so focused on sketching.

It is entierly hand fabricated. The sphere is hollow, and made by hand. The tree is hand sawed and the wood pattern is engraved.
The brick pattern is actually done using a technique called chasing, where you use a hammer and a punch to make markings in the metal.
It is then oxidized by using a thin brush and painting the oxidation fluid on carefully.

The chain hangs through the branches of the tree.
The las picture shows the sphere from the side, and the top.
The second image shows my idea sketch and plan of how I was going to make it.
This is a one of a kind item.

Including long chain.

My name is Josephine, and I’m a goldsmith. All my items are completely handmade by me from start to finish.
I do everything, from designing and sketching, to sawing every little piece out with a hand saw, filing and shaping, and soldering it all together.
Nearly all my items are one of a kind, only a few are designs that I will make several of, and even they are unique because it is made by hand each time.

Frequently asked questions about MirielDesign

Yes, I use genuine Campo del Cielo meteorites.
I purchase my meteorites only from registered members of IMCA, who have very strict rules on who they allow as members, and they keep close watch on the authenticity of the products their members sell.
My meteorites have also been verified by a local meteorite expert.
I've sold meteorite jewellery to IFuckingLoveScience, and they sell them in their webshop.

Campo del Cielo meteorites are not particularly rare, and are found in Argentina. Check out the wiki page for more info: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Campo_del_Cielo
IMCA website: http://imca.cc/
Meteorites are iron, and contain nickel.
They need to be kept clean and dry to prevent rust.
I've had my meteorite wedding ring for about two years now, with no signs of rust at all.
I take it off when I wash my hands or shower, and when the ring needs to be cleaned, I do so with warm soapy water and a baby tooth brush. The meteorite needs to be thoughrougly dried right away, and then oiled. I use coconut oil, but any oil will do.

The silver I use is Sterling Silver 925, and may tarnish over time, as sterling silver does. Use a silver dip purchased at a jewellery store, and follow the instructions for it. You can dip the meteorites in it.
I'm happy to make custom orders, so feel free to message me!
I can design something for you based on ideas, key words and descriptions of a style you like, or you can give me a finalized design of your own and I will create it for you.
You can send me pictures of things you like, and I will design something inspired by it.
You can point to some of my designs and say you like this part from that, and that part from this, and I will combine them to a new design.

I will not copy another artists work, but I can design something new in my own style, based on a concept you like.
If you are in a hurry, please message me, and if I can, I'll make your order faster than the stated timeframe.

In December I will try to get every order out as fast as possible, working night and day, but I cannot promise that orders places after the 7th of December will arrive in time for Christmas, although I try my best.
