I sculpted this little squirrel with a nut in his mouth in shallow relief leaping across a gleaming copper (or bronze or pewter) sun. It has a silver-plated or a bronze metal brooch pin on the back, and is presented in a black gift box with purple paper raffia decoration. An information card is also included. It's quite a chunky design and measures 6.5cm from paws to tail.
It is made in cold-cast resin, which is a metal finish over light weight resin.
'Sciurus Vulgaris' is latin for red squirrel and roughly translated it means 'animal which sits in the shadow of its tail'.
It has been designed, sculpted, cast (in my coal shed!), sanded, polished, buffed, waxed and boxed by me, sculptor Kirsty Armstrong.
The copper version will tarnish but all that is needed is a buff every now and then with a soft cloth to keep him sparkling. The pewter and bronze finish takes longer to tarnish.

This brooch is absolutely gorgeous, I want to keep it! But it's a present for my pagan Mum who really needs some pampering this Christmas. I know she'll love it. I would have purchased the copper but it was out of stock, but glad in a way, because the bronze has a lovely red-ish sheen to it anyway, and it's gives the whole gorgeous brooch a glowing effect. It's fabulous, was wrapped well and is super light too! Thank you Kirsty, and for keeping in touch throughout the process. You've been a joy to purchase from.
