Description

.....Townsend was her given name….but everyone called her Twiss. Of course, I called her Townsend, as was proper in those days. We met on the alumnae committee at Michigan State. I was not actually an “alum” (I attended Yale back when “wheels were square”), but an honorary one for my work in the effects of fashion on human behavioral modification. Twiss and I would occasionally fly off to little visited parts of the planet and study habits in dress, from the deepest of the Amazon to the area near what we now call Patagonia. I found it all quite entertaining, and got to meet genuine characters like Twiss!

Looks just like the type of jacket one might have worn to a Glee Club event way back when! The dark emerald and camel checked plaid "looks like wool gabardine" button front oversized blazer is quite lightweight, but the vintage velvet lined fur hood gives it that snuggy look! I could see wearing this to a football game....maybe a Michigan football game? Embellished with what I like to call "butterscotch candy" colored vintage buttons. Chains with copper baubles allow you to close the neckline. The vintage green "M" letterman letter looks to me like Michigan with a "cheer" logo and vintage New York Statue of Liberty Statue from 1965 and a Mother of Pearl Vintage tie clip, again with signature "M". Sis, Boom, Bah...Rah...Rah...Rah....

The jacket has no size tag, and:
Sleeve Length-approx. 23 1/2”
Shoulder Width-approx. 16 11/2”
Front Coat Length-approx. 31”
Width at bottom (when buttoned)-approx. 20”

Price $235

Payments

Secure options
  • Accepts Etsy Gift Cards and Etsy Credits
Etsy keeps your payment information secure. Etsy shops never receive your credit card information.
At this time I accept PayPal and credit cards through direct checkout only. As I mellow with age and settle into the seller role I'll try and add more. If you have a specific request, convo me and we can try to work it out. I do not hold items, because right now I have a small shop and need to sell! I cannot accept cancellations, so ask enough questions to feel comfortable before you buy. I do charge Ohio sales tax.

Returns & exchanges

As a rule, I do not accept returns, and I've never had anyone wish to return a purchase. These items are one of a kind and fragile and not best served by packing and unpacking, shipping and reshipping. I believe you would not like purchasing a jacket that had been shipped around and returned. Ask all the questions you have up front. I love these jackets and never tire of talking about them. Please evaluate your purchase carefully. I have efforted to be very detailed in the descriptions, photos and measurements. Shoulder width is measured from shoulder seam to shoulder seam on the back; jacket length is measured from shoulder seam near collar to bottom of jacket in front; width at bottom is measured from side to side at bottom in front; sleeve length is measured from shoulder seam to bottom of sleeve. All measurements are approximate. Once the item is shipped, I cannot be responsible if something is damaged in shipping. If you would like shipping insurnce I can adjust the shipping fee to accomodate this prior to purchase. Thank You.

Shipping policies

I only ship right now to the continental US 48. If you would like it shipped any place else, please convo me and we can discuss it. As time goes on, I plan to increase my shipping destinations. At this time I plan to ship jackets by the most cost effective method for the destination. I will make the shipment trackable and have proof of delivery. Because of the shape and bulkiness, I will do my best to pack the coats carefully, but you will most likely need to steam them upon receipt. Other items-Buttons and other small items will be shipped in the most cost-effective and safest way I can.

Additional policies

Each Jacket is one of a kind and embellished with special found and vintage items. Many of the embellishments are removable for cleaning; however, please consult your neighborhood dry cleaner for handling recommendations. Because many of the items are vintage, most have been previously worn, and can sometimes show minimal wear.
When indicated, the items have been drycleaned and/or repaired. I cannot vouch for the original owners and their environments, as I don't often meet them. However, I won't sell anything I wouldn't wear myself. I am picky, but I also appreciate the "patina" of vintage and found objects.
