Description

A very unusual antique Victorian open compote because of its size: 9" high, 12" from corner to corner ! , and 9" X 9" (flat side X flat side- top area)... a substantial piece of pressed glass to make an impressive center piece to your holiday or special occasion table!

Made by Dalzell Gilmore & Leighton this is commonly known as "Priscilla" ( pattern #61) but was originally introduced as "Alexis" and also known as Steele, Late Moon and Stars, Crown Jewel and Sun and Stars. This pattern was made into a variety of pieces including impressive cake stands and other compotes but I haven't found any quite so big as this one! There are 20 radiating fluted ridges with the repeating moon (or sun) and star pattern which is mirrored in the footed base.

Note this is also a piece of "manganese" glass with a natural light, pinkish lavender tint, more noticeable in some light and barely noticeable in others. It is in very good condition with no chips or cracks but the customary bubbles and straw marks (but just a few!) and a very small scuff here and there. Sure to be an impressive part of your entertaining decor!

This will be shipped to USA destinations after funds have cleared via USPS Priority (with tracking, insurance) which generally may take 2 to 4 days depending on your location.

Other shipping options, including guaranteed "express overnight" at a substantially higher rate, are available upon request.

Returns & exchanges

I try to be as accurate as possible in my listing descriptions and pictures. Most of the items listed are of a vintage or antique quality and thus show varying degrees of age and use. I try to point out any of these signs of age in the listing. I am human, there may be something that I miss. I want you to be happy- if the item does not meet your expectations and I have made a mistake or overlooked something, I will make a refund. Please let me know as soon as possible- if there is a problem.

I do not refund any shipping or insurance fees included in any sale. I refund only the purchase price of the item itself.

If a return has been agreed to, it must be returned within a week of purchase and in the same condition as when the item was sold.

If a return arrangement is made, the item must be returned via USPS priority mail with tracking and insurance so its location may be monitored and to be covered in case of loss in transit.

If an item is damaged in shipment and is insured, please let me know as soon as possible so a claim may be made. Photographic evidence of the damage must be provided for a claim.

Thanks!

Shipping policies

Generally, I try to ship within 1 to 3 days of your purchase and payment*, if longer is necessary, I will let you know. *I can not ship items before the payment "clears"- this usually takes no more than 24hrs from the time you place the order and provide payment.

Insurance: Generally most items over $50.00 US or very fragile items will be insured as noted in the listing. This charge will be included in the shipping. If you would like me to include insurance on items below $50.00, please let me know before your purchase so I can modify the shipping charge which will include the insurance.

I ship most items via USPS mail. Smaller and lighter items (under 1 lb.) may be shipped as "first class" though USPS Priority mail may not be that much more. If you wish me to ship another way, please inquire before you purchase. Alternative methods, such as FedEX or UPS or ? may be arranged, inquire.

I am happy to combine multiple purchases at the same time into one package, when possible, to save on shipping charges. Unfortunately, sometimes this is not always possible- particularly to provide safe shipping of some larger or fragile items.

I often use recycled packing materials in shipping, always clean and usable from a non-smoking and pet free environment.

If you purchase an item for a gift, I can gift wrap and include a custom note for an additional charge. Let me know and I can arrange this service for you.

International shipping can be arranged, you must be willing to wait for a 4 to 6 week delivery and in some cases even longer. Often this is not the actual shipping time itself that takes so long but other processes such as customs and so forth. This varies from country to country. With most items, I will only ship internationally if I can send the item registered and insured to avoid problems beyond my control.

FAQs

I am happy to provide this service (including a custom, personalized note) for most smaller items at a modest charge. See the drop down menu or inquire for this service if there isn't one for a larger item. I am also offering special premium gift wrapping for the holiday season at an additional charge. Let me know so I can create a custom listing and you can provide information I will need to do this.

Please allow for an additional day in the processing of your order to provide this service.

Thank you!
As most experienced buyers of vintage and antique items will know, most objects have some signs of wear and use if you look very closely. I am vary careful to photograph and describe any of these condition issues in the listing.

Some items have some imperfections that have always been with the object- they were created or manufactured that way! I try to point these issues out as well.

If you have any questions- just inquire. I will try to clarify any of these issues for you.

Thank you!
I am willing to make special arrangements to ship most items internationally providing that it is legal to do so and that the buyer is willing and able to communicate with me so I can make those arrangements. Though I can understand and can communicate in many languages, I prefer you have a good understanding of English in order to understand the subtleties and details in making these arrangements. Sometimes the procedure is simple but sometimes more complex.

Most importantly, I ask that the buyer be fully aware that shipping and customs procedures may take up to several weeks and agree to that situation before making the purchase and my making the special arrangements.
I will be happy to combine the shipping of multiple purchases when possible. Some larger or more fragile items may have to be shipped separately to insure they arrive in good condition. If you have any questions just contact me for more information.

Thanks!
