This is the book Salt Walther was writing at the time of his death in December 2012. For the Race of Your Life chronicles David "Salt" Walther's life from growing up in Dayton, Ohio to becoming an IndyCar, NASCAR and Unlimited Hydroplane racer. His battle with drug addiction after becoming hooked on pain medications due to injuries he suffered from his fiery crash during the start of the Indianapolis 500 in 1973.

Much of the book was written by Salt and was finished by his long time friend Chuck Little. It also includes race archive records and photos. Learn what it was like to be upside down in a race car that is now burning your race suit into your flesh. Salt will explain with first hand stories of what drugs can do to your life in taking you from being a rock-star IndyCar driver, dating hot Hollywood models and having parts in TV shows to dredging the back alleys of Dayton looking for that next fix.

It may also dispel some myths that you may have had from reading articles about Salt in newspapers and motorsports periodicals. This book is not just about auto racing, but life ups and downs and what happens to a kid from Dayton Ohio dreaming of racing in the Indy 500 and in a split second in 1973 transforms you into a Jeykll and Hyde life.
