Dogs playing poker? The idea was made so popular in the early 1900's that everyone has seen one of the vintage posters of the theme. It was only a matter of time before someone asked me to paint their family of dogs playing poker. Here's a print of their canine pack having a grand time. It looks like they snuck downstairs to the basement for a rousing game while their people slept unknowing upstairs. Note that Cricket, the black dog on the left who won this hand, is also depicted as the Queen of England in the portrait behind the poker table.

This is a theme that was popularized by C. M. Coolidge in 1903 when he was commissioned to create them for Brown and Bigelow to advertise cigars. Though most of my animal paintings are based on the portraiture of dignified historical human figures, these dogs are playing in the nude! Strip poker, might we wonder?

Perfect for a dog-lovers game room- your own or a friend's.

Please note that, in order to offer the best quality product, prints that are 11x14” and larger are now being printed at my partner print company. These prints will be processed within 3 business days and drop shipped from California. USA customers will receive a tracking number for the packages from me.
