Each one of my aluminum collars starts off as plain round 3/16" aluminum wire. I personally hammer and cold forge the aluminum by hand, until I reach the desired wire shape and texture.

This lightweight, but sturdy day collar features flattened aluminum wire with a lightly textured finish. The clear glass beads act as a hinge, and the collar locks in the back via a stainless steel hex screw. The total inside circumference equals 17.25 inches, and will fit up to a 16.25 inch neck comfortably. Collar comes with an extra screw (2 total) and 2 allen keys. You will receive the exact item pictured.

My day collars are meant to be worn symbolically and discreetly in public as jewelry. They are not meant to be used in play, or to be pulled on. Doing so may bend or damage the collar. Please be sure to not over tighten the screw, as I can't warranty against over tightening and stripping of the screw or collar. Also, each one is lovingly handmade, and as such may show slight variances or imperfections as compared to machine made items. If you have any concerns, please message me first.

And as always, please use caution when wearing this, or any other locking necklace. Always keep a spare key handy in case of emergency, as anything worn around the neck has the potential to cause a choking hazard.

Extra keys and screws available upon request.

Frequently asked questions about SkyeWireDesigns

For measuring I suggest using a ribbon tape measure. If you don't have a ribbon tape measure use a string or something similar and measure between where the two ends meet.

For collars - wrap the tape measure around your neck at the "adam's apple" area. This is your neck measurement.

For bracelets - wrap the tape measure around the smallest point on your wrist. This is your wrist measurement.

For anklets - choose whether you want the anklet above or below the ankle bone. Then measure that spot. This is your ankle measurement.
Solid wire collars - add 1/2 inch to 1 inch to your measurement. 1 inch larger tends to sit right at the base of the neck. If you want it tighter, adjust accordingly.

Bracelets - add 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch to your measurement. You can go a little larger if you like, just make sure it won't slide off over your hand.

Leather collars - I recommend ordering your actual neck size and let it naturally stretch a bit to fit snug. However if you want it a bit looser you can add 1/4 inch to your measurement.

For chains - the easiest thing to do is find a current chain that you own and measure that.

HOWEVER, comfort is a subjective thing and these are just guidelines. It is the buyer's responsibility to measure correctly and order the right size.
Yes. While sterling is a great metal for everyday wear because it won’t rust, all sterling silver will tarnish over time. Some things like heavily chlorinated pool water can speed up the tarnishing process. While daily wear can help to delay the process because the oils from the skin can help protect it. How fast something will tarnish largely depends on personal body chemistry and other environmental factors.
The best way to care for sterling that is worn 24/7 is to pat it dry while drying off after a shower and any time you start to notice it changing color just rub it through the polishing pad that I provide with all silver purchases. If you go swimming or do an activity that produces a lot of sweat and choose not to take it off, it's a good idea to rinse it off with fresh water as soon as you are able to (like while in the shower after the activity), then pat dry and follow up with a quick swipe through the polishing cloth.
If you intend on wearing it 24/7 and in the shower, applying a conditioning weather proofing product at least once a month is a good idea. I recommend Fiebing's Snow Proof Paste or something similar. With proper application of a weather proofing product you can maintain the leather, but no leather is 100% water proof and being exposed to water may alter the appearance of the leather, and the dye may bleed a little. If you are okay with the added maintenance, you can wear it in the shower. But if you'd rather only deal with minimal maintenance, you should remove it while showering. Wearing it while swimming is not recommended, as chlorine or salt water will dry out and damage the leather.
Most people will have no problem wearing real sterling silver. The majority of jewelry that turns the skin green is fake silver or nickle plated base metals. However, a small percentage of the population may have slightly more acidic body chemistry. This, combined with local environmental factors can possibly cause a reaction with the copper that's in real sterling silver and result in a green tone on the skin. This is usually pretty rare though, and more common with tighter fitting jewelry like rings. But, if you know you have had issues with real sterling silver turning your skin green in the past, it may be a possibility with any other sterling silver jewelry.
This really depends on your order and your location. Standard made to order items generally take 1 - 2 weeks to make. But processing times may vary based on current order load, so always check the "Shipping & Policies" tab on each individual listing before ordering.

After your order is made, shipping times will depend on your location. All orders within the US ship USPS Priority mail with tracking and insurance, and generally take 1 - 3 days. International orders ship USPS First Class International and average about 3 weeks. However please note there is no guaranteed time frame with international orders and in rare instances have taken up to 2 months.
The first thing you should do is message me BEFORE purchasing the item, include a link to the item you are interested in, and let me know the date you need it by. Rush processing is available on some items which means it can be bumped to the top of my order queue. This can generally shorten the processing time to about 3 days. The fee for rush processing depends on complexity of the order and current shop order load and will range from $15 to $30. Rush processing is the best option for orders that need to be completed fast, but isn't available for every item. So please message me first.
If you need express shipping as well, that is doable and will be priced on a case by case basis. However, usually express shipping in the US will only shorten the ship time by 1 day compared to my standard Priority shipping. If this is something you need please message me prior to purchasing and include your zip code.

For international orders express shipping can shorten the time frame considerably to as little as 3 - 5 days. Please message me for specific rates and include your city and country.
Yes! I absolutely love custom orders so please feel free to contact me if you have something special in mind. Simple custom requests that only take a few exchanges to work out are done at no extra cost. However, if it's an extensive custom order that is going to take more than 5 messages from me to get right or you will need sample product made to visualize your idea, there will be a non-refundable custom order fee of $50 to cover time and/or materials. The best way to avoid this fee is to be able to tell me exactly what you are looking for, including sizes, shapes, material, or anything else you can think of. However if you need my help figuring it out, that's no problem. I will let you know when time spent will require the custom fee.
