Freddi’s Fave! All Natural Balsa & Sola Parrot Foraging Chew Toy

This parrot toy is all of my little orange winged Amazon Freddi’s favorite textures. It’s a great medium level chew with soft Balsa, Sola Ball & Sola Logs, palm leaf bowls & mahogany pod pieces. There is a nice spot to hide treats in the palm cups to entice a bird who doesn’t do much shredding to start.
It’s approximately 12 inches long &3x3 around.
When I get balsa it comes in with a varying softness range. I pick the harder pieces for this toy, which are still very soft but it buys a little more time… sometimes…
Palm bowls come in in different shape/hardness, I use the most fitting, not too soft, I save them for my small toys, not too hard, I save them for bigger bird gift toys and rescue donations for the bigger birds. I keep it consistent to truly what my Freddi girl loves.

These hooks are the safer version of hooks but only if you twist them closed. Any open ring can be a dangerous beak hazard. Always Tighten your hooks closed.

Extra Tips:
*If a large chunk of balsa wood falls from being unevenly chewed off you can easily drill or make a hole in it with a small Philips screw driver to restring or many birds enjoy holding the piece to finish shredding.
*If you're left with the sisal string you can unknot the bottom, twist a piece of tape making a point on the end and easily restring old clean bird toy pieces that you've saved onto it or even layer pieces of cardboard. Remember to remove or cut off the tape.

Bunnies and other small chew happy critters also enjoy the textures in this toy. It’s not just “for the birds”!

I have a great tip for folks who have birds that aren’t interested in ripping up a toy, hang it and say “ please don’t ruin that, it’s a very expensive original piece of art” then leave them unattended for 5 minutes 😂
