I have been making my own mug rugs for many years. Giving them as gifts and using them myself.
Recently I decided to try them out on Etsy. As a rule, I do not make or sell anything from anyone else’s patterns but my own. As I am finding out, there are no hard and fast rules for penny rugs and such.
So I did a bit of research, learning that penny rugs were made before the civil war using pennies for the templates, and using scraps for the fabric “pennies” so as not to waste anything. Back then you could not afford to waste ANYTHING.
Mostly penny rugs were made from all wool, but at todays prices 100% wool is not always an option.
Since wool felt is so accessible and comes in so many great colors, I see no reason not to “modernize” the penny rug a bit. I love wool felt and all of my doll ornaments are made with wool felt. I use 100% wool whenever I can get it, but I jealously guard my stash. But I would love to custom make a mug for you using all wool (gives me the excuse to dig in to the stash ;)
So all of this very wordy description boils down to this – I have designed my own pattern for a mug rug. While this particular pattern is mine, the concept for the mug rug certainly is not. Mug rugs are fun and make the best teacher gifts, and teachers love them! They are also great for your student who is away from home and wants a personal touch.
Ideas for mug rugs: apples, pears, music notes, art palettes, football, basketball, baseball, geometric, the four seasons, pumpkins, cats, Christmas trees, Santa Claus, the list goes on

My goal is to make the best quality pieces that I can. If your item is damaged in shipping I will of course, provide a refund. If you leave your doll in the sun for months and the color fades, I am afraid I cannot fix that :) The dolls are all made from fabric and fabric will fade, stain and tear.
I am an extremely accommodating and fair person. Contact me, we will talk, I will do the best that I can to help. I want you to be happy with your doll.

Shipping policies
Generally I ship in stock items within one day. Unless it is a MADE TO ORDER piece, then please allow 7-10 BUSINESS days. If it can be sooner, I will certainly let you know. I have tried to keep all of my shipping rates as low as I can.
