This dreamy coming of age book was written in a serious of wildly popular books aimed at young women by Anne Fellows Johnson and at the time of publication these books rivaled the popularity of books like Little Women.
This is one of a dozen books featuring the Little Colonel; a young lady of social stature and privilege. It features 306 pages with eight interesting period engravings. The front piece plate is still covered in velum tissue paper.

The Little Colonel At Boarding School has been well taken care of for the last 100 plus years. It measures 6" x 8" The binding is still tight but the backboard has been injured... it's splitting away from the spine and the interior front board has been written in by the child who once owned it. Amazingly enough, it does not smell of book-mold.

Many people sell these nifty illustrated plates separately as frame-able art, but I could not bring myself to destroy this very cool old book.
