Aren't these cards wonderful?

Back in the day, department stores often had large scales you could step on, insert a nickel and get your weight and a fortune. Well, it's 2019 and you can still get a fortune. In fact, you can get 5 of them!

These original cards are printed on heavy cardboard and look great in almost any mixed media project - collage, visual journals, greeting cards, shadow boxes, ATCs, altered books, what-have-you. If you're into altered books, showcase a card through a window cut into the preceding 5 or 6 pages. Looks great.

For the holiday season I make Christmas crackers and always include one of these fortune cards.

Several years ago, when RubyDog's Art House was a bricks and mortar store, I hosted an altered jigsaw puzzle collaboration. The sample in the 4th image is from that project. Clo Laurencelle did this piece as a bit of a spoof on me. The cards read: " Your ideas at times are rather large. Sometimes you undertake more than you can accomplish. ....you are apt to get excited and make things lively." Pretty accurate observation from one of my customers!

If you order more than one packet I will make sure you do not receive any duplicate fortunes.
