New Orleans stretches itself far beyond the French Quarter and the drunken illusions of Mardi Gras. It's a living, breathing organism with a shape reminiscent of a cyborg crab. The city is checker boarded by crime and joy, hurricanes and daiquiris. The entire thing is easily (and best) explored by bicycle. This is how I reacted to the baffling landscape of New Orleans, simplifying it to its most essential gestures.

8” x 8” Letterpress printed on fancy pearl-white paper with deep impression.

What's the big idea?

New research indicates that GPS's are hindering our ability to create mental maps of our surroundings. My maps aim to install a "Map from the Mind" for each city, simplifying structures and districts in the simplest terms. The circle, our Universe's softest shape, clearly conveys size and connections.

Here’s a great article about my work from slate.com:

Here's a great article about the mapmaking part of our brains:

Framing:

We suggest this Ikea Frame, but like anything from Ikea, you’ll need to do a little work yourself. This requires a custom mat. http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/00078051/
