Description

This fresh, summery quilt is designed as a lap quilt for those evenings with a bit of a chill, but it will also work beautifully as a baby's play quilt or on a baby's cot or toddler bed. I quilted it in a beautiful meandering feather design which gives lovely texture and durability without overpowering the beautiful batik fabrics. It measures 48 x 68in, is squared and lays flat.

It has been published in the December 2013 issue of Australian Patchwork & Quilting (Vol 23 No 3) and is the quilt shown on the cover as shown in the second photo.

The top and back are made from top quality quilters' cottons, and I've used Matilda's Own wool/cotton batting. The piecing is done with quality 100% cotton and the feather quilting uses a top-quality quilters' poly thread in lemon yellow with a lovely sheen. The binding, made from the same batiks in the centre of the quilt, is continuous with neatly mitred corners and invisibly hand-stitched down at the back.

I take great pride in my work, all the way through from the initial design to the finishing touches. The quilt is fully washable; I recommend by hand with a gentle detergent or woolwash if required, but it can be put through the machine on a gentle cycle and tumble-dried on warm. Dry the quilt flat in the shade. Keep your quilt art out of direct sunlight to retain the vivid colours.

The quilt comes from a completely smoke-free environment and has been kept away from pets.

If you have any questions about this quilt, or would like to commission something similar (or even completely different!) please contact me.

I knew exactly who I wanted to make this quilt for as soon as I saw it. Thank you so much for providing a pattern easy enough for me to follow that will provide a dramatic effect when finished.

Shipping policies

Shipping is from Australia. Shipping to the the US generally takes about 10 days. I endeavour to ship the following day, but as a mother of two, this isn't always achievable. I send all quilts via registered post and will provide you with the customs number.

Additional policies

Each quilt has a label with care instructions. As a rule, quilts should be gently hand washed in cool water, and dried flat in the shade. Cot, play and bed quilts are designed for use, and can be gently machine washed and dried, although hand care is ideal. Depending on their construction, some art quilts may not be suitable for washing, but may be spot-cleaned with a soft, damp cloth. All wallhangings come with a hanging sleeve attached.
