Recycled fine silver, Matte Gold brass ball chain, Sterling Chain Option

UNCONQUERED "Invicta" Large Sterling Horse Pendant, Latin Phrase -
This is my all time favorite antique piece in my shop.

INVICTA is the word beneath the well-muscled rearing Stallion on this recycled sterling silver pendant.
It means "UNCONQUERED" in Latin.
This pendant has been meticulously hand made for you with an aged quality meant to enhance the historic quality of the design.
The final result is a modern heirloom to love forever.

This listing is for the women's version of this pendant, in mixed metal with a very cool matte gold tone ball chain and gold filled bail.

If you rather a sterling rolo chain? No problem, choose from drop-down menu.
( For a thicker chain for men, contact me).

I have cast this piece from a mid 1800's uniform button found during a dig in England.
The button is a "livery" button which I have described below, if you are interested.

SIZE:
This hefty, pendant about one inch long (23mm) and 3/4"wide (20-22mm). It is several millimeters thick, giving it a nice weight.

Here is the listing for the Mens version:

A LITTLE HISTORY behind the pendant:

"Heraldry" , is the language of family crests and their insignias.

In Heraldry, horses are depicted many ways. In this pendant, the horse is shown “forcené‎” or rearing, which is associated with being ready and empowered. Horses represent the warrior spirit, bravery, courage, strength, speed, intellect, virility, lust, innate clairvoyance, loyalty, devotion; and historically, the readiness of all employments for king and country

A "livery" is an insignia or symbol on a uniform which one would wear who provided service to a noble or aristocrat. It represented their relationship, (service and loyalty) to their employer.

The word itself comes from the French, “livrée”, meaning delivered. Most often it would indicate that the wearer of the livery was a servant, dependent, follower, or friend of the owner of the “livery.”

Think, "Downton Abbey": the fashion for livery buttons started among the upper classes in the mid-eighteenth century, and lasted as an accepted practice into the Edwardian era of the early twentieth century, until changing social and economic conditions after the First World War quietly put an end to the era of the "liveried" servant among the wealthy upper class.

There is a whole language to livery buttons, heraldry, and crests & shields and I am fascinated as I am learning the meaning behind many of them. For more history you can read The Big Book of Buttons by Hughs & Lester. And Fairbairns Book of Crests, London : T. C. & E. C. Jack, or ask me for more information about some of the history of behind items in my shop.

FAQs

PLEASE Check the dimensions of jewelry before you order.
It is hard to gauge actual size from photos taken with a macro (magnified) setting. Picture are enlarged to show detail and a photo showing scale is included.

Many pendants I make are crafted using very old antiques or ancient relics to form an impression. Cracks + age-worn areas are extolled rather than fixed. Thus, some small words on your pendant may not be clearly read with the naked eye.

You can keep your secret and wear your story close to your heart.
Share it with whom you choose.

If you want to read the words of an impression clearly with the naked eye, antique wax seal stamp jewelry is not the right style of jewelry for you. To avoid disappointment, please don't order.
Your purchase will arrive in a reusable muslin sac.
However, I am happy to ready your purchase for gifting with a lovely box and ribbons. Please contact me if you need gift packaging.

I am happy to include a card with your sentiment no charge.
Contact me through the Etsy 'convo' system.

I try to re-use shipping/packing materials where I can, to lower my carbon footprint and waste. Your package may arrive in a padded envelope that does not look perfect, or a new and suitable one that you can re-use.
Making jewelry to order takes time. My turn-around time fluctuates during the year but is always three to five business days before I ship. I post current turnaround times in my shop announcement on page one of the shop.

Feel free to ask for a shipping date estimate upon ordering.

I do not charge extra for a 'RUSH' order. Please let me know your deadline and I will do my best to accommodate - if possible - no promises!

Custom and personalized items are not returnable.

This includes all initials, pendants with reverse patterns and chains sold by length.

Please contact me if you have an issue with your purchase.
I sell "oxidized" or antiqued jewelry with a patina from a hand applied process that results in the great antique effect you see.

Don't use silver polish or you may remove some of the "aged" effect.

Sterling oxidizes (darkens) naturally over time. To clean and polish, use a dry silver polishing cloth.
Sterling chains brighten up with mild soap and water.

Your jewelry's patina will change over the years. If it is not how you once loved it, I am happy to re-vamp it and get the patina back to the way you like. No charge except shipping. You can contact me at any point for this free service.

Handmade jewelry is made with care and thus, must be worn with care.
Please contact me with any wholesale inquiries.
I continue to have 100% Positive feedback.
