Free Range Deerskin, Free Range Elk, hand dyed bone beads, glass beads, waxed linen

My lanyards are made with free-range leathers from deer and elk that were legally hunted and used for their meat. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of each lanyard goes to support wildlife conservation and the reintroduction of native species.

I have worked with many qualified guides and veteran fishers to develop these lanyards. They are designed to give you a fully customized fit that allows the lanyard to move with your body and yet stay out of your way even when netting fish. This model is named in honor of the great and precious Rick Williams, former head of the Fly Fishers International fly casting instructors program and a conservation inspiration.

Each lanyard is corded by hand. Cordage is an ancient spiral braiding technique known for its combination of strength, beauty and durability. I use Irish waxed linen for the wrap and fringe is hand cut. The bone beads used for support, tippet holders and fringe accent beads are all hand-dyed with coffee, tea and walnut hulls.

"Damn it, Rick!" Model
--Elkskin Neck Pad-- for your comfort.
--License/Permit Holder-- (NEW feature- visible in the second photo)-- there is a small loop attached to the back of the neck pad for attaching the plastic sleeve that holds your license
--Full Adjustability-- for your custom fit.
*Swivel hooks that run inside the neck pad can be added or removed to create a custom length
*Split rings can be repositioned up and down the lanyard by twisting the cord open, sliding the ring to desired position, and twisting closed again.
*Split rings allow for a custom configuration of all tools including tippet bar height.
--Bone Stabilizer Bar and Clips --- There is a bone stabilizer bar at the base of the lanyard and stabilizer clips that attach the lanyard to your clothing or other gear. They work together to give the lanyard just the right amount of flexibility without it being in the way.
--Wool Fly Pad--- for quick access to flies.
--Tippet Bar-- Can be worn above the stabilizer bar (first 3 photos) or below it (last 5 photos). Made of bone and hand-dyed with walnut hull. I'm happy to provide replacement tippet stoppers at no charge.
--Free Range Leathers--- a more sustainable source of both leather and meat.

These are individually made to order and production is limited. There is generally a 2 month lead time for these. If you are in a hurry for any reason, please let me know before you order and I will see if I can accommodate you. Though lanyard lengths are adjustable, if you need a particularly long or short lanyard or if you want your fringe cut longer or shorter or something along those lines, just let me know in the comments section when you order. I will confirm any details of your order before making your lanyard.

---If you are placing this order as a gift and prefer the recipient make their own choice of model, color and fringe option, I can send them a gift card with an order form. They can complete it and return it to me or call me with their preferences. Please include the recipient's address in the comment section when you order.

We love our little leather bag that Evenlight made for us! We originally had her make it for our doggie's ashes to go inside his urn in case the urn were to ever break. But we decided to go another route and now we use it as a memorial to our Sweet George. The elkskin is so lovely and supple and the walrus ivory is such a nice touch. Evenlight is a pleasure to work with! <3
