This one-of-a-kind vase was thrown as a cylinder on the potter's wheel, then six indents were pushed into the base, and six fins were squeezed and combed into the star profile. The six-pointed star rim was cut and torn to increase the visual interest of this sculptural vase, and more texture and marking was added individually to each star fin. Our red-brown saturated iron glaze was dipped and poured as a first coat onto the biscuited vase, then a second coat of our clear glaze was poured unevenly over the vase surface. The vase was placed in the very hottest zone of our cone 10 downdraft reduction kiln, and the glossy bright orange-brown-green glaze coat was the pleasing result of the intense firing process. Use this vase for flowers, display it as a table centerpiece in your home, or give it as a unique ceramic art gift.

* 7" wide by 7" deep by 8" tall, volume 24 oz.
* dishwasher and microwave-safe, although we aren't sure whether it will fit into your microwave oven, and we can't imagine what you would be cooking in this vase!
* no lead in clay or glaze
