Height: 9.0 Inches

One pendant light from etched glass seltzer water bottle, hard wired for use above kitchen counters, islands and dining tables in home, restaurants and barrooms. Ships free.

Jewish immigrants introduced seltzer water to America from Europe in the early 20th century. Bottled seltzer water became an integral part of city life in the 40s and 50s. Delivering door-to-door, the seltzer man became like a member of the family sharing stories, gossip and news as he made his rounds. With the empties returned for refilling, it was an early form of recycling.

In its heyday, there were hundreds of seltzer companies in Brooklyn alone, each one with its own etched logo on the bottles. These glass bottles were imported from Europe where they were formed in wooden molds, the glass exceptionally thick to withstand the rigors of delivery and constant refilling. Light through the etched-glass bottle casts a magical glow that can be softened or sharpened by wattage of light bulb.

Each light has been professionally-wired with UL-approved components including pendant wire, grounded porcelain socket, ceiling canopy with strain relief. Can be set up on a dimmer.
