On my blog- http://apothecarysgarden.com, ( In the drop-down menus at the top of the page), you will find recipes for moustache waxes and various healing salves and balms using fresh Pine, Fir or Spruce sap as an important ingredient. You will also find instructions for building your own still and how to distill essential oils from saps and fragrant herbs.

In Ontario, I have access to an abundance of these sap/oleoresin bearing trees. Many, I personally steward and care for. Stewardship in this context means, I take care of the trees, over the years and in some cases over decades, look to their well-being, nurture them and harvest from them. This creates a sustainable and ethical source for high-quality sap. Pure oleoresins that can be used for medicine, incense and perfume.
They are fragrant healing expressions of nature, harvested in small quantities, and will never be available as a large volume or wholesale item.
As mentioned in my recipes, you must first warm the sap in a water-bath, with or without a vegetable oil, (or animal fat), then filter it from debris and non-dissolving particles. Pantyhose works well or a pillowcase. Warm oils or waxes greatly facilitate mobility and filtering.

A tip for easily removing these sticky saps from the plastic sleeve I ship them in, is to put them in the freezer for 1/2 hour or so first. When cold they will peel easily from the plastic and you won't loose any in the process.

Some feedback from customers.

"This Sap is Great! This is the 3rd batch I have ordered, and I will order more!!!"

"This product is absolutely as described, & one I have fallen in love with for its own properties as an oleo-resin, & its properties for the body, mind, & spirit. The quality & freshness of the Spruce sap is astounding, & the tip about popping the sap into the freezer in order to be able to get it out of the packaging without making a sticky mess of things was (& still absolutely is) spot on, & it absolutely infuses into oil when warmed splendidly! I made some of the Spruce sap infused oil before turning it into the Chest Rub per the recipe on Dan's Apothecary website, & it has yet to not work for anyone who I gave any of the Chest Rub I made; a testament to the product much more than my ability to work with it. It absolutely works for respiratory issues very well, in addition to being a surprisingly fantastic muscle rub!"

"Two thumbs up! Very responsive seller and a very unique product."

"This smells so delicious, just like the forest, thanks for offering this."
