Do you have thin cotton thread that is too tedious to crochet in one strand and that would feel too rough if you use several strands for creating a garment? I had a few balls of thin cotton thread size 30 that I held triple stranded and turned into this durable bag.

You can make your bag longer or shorter, wider or narrower, with a ROUND or an OVAL bottom, using written, charted or video instructions - whatever suits your needs best. And if you get tired from crocheting the ROUND bottom, you can always use this masterpiece as your crochet table mat :).

Experience in following written OR charted crochet patterns is important - although this pattern includes links to videos that show how to crochet these stitches, complete beginners might feel overwhelmed.

Size of the maxi bag: 
width all around 90 cm = 35.4’’;
length from bottom to handles 50 cm = 19.7’’.

Size of the smaller bag: 
width all around 60 cm = 23.6’’’;
length from bottom to handles 30 cm = 11.8’’.

Both crochet bags were made with hook 3.5 mm (hook E in the USA) and cotton thread size 30 held triple stranded. Take 11 balls of Dmc Creative World Babylo 30 for the maxi bag and 5 balls for the smaller bag.

Gauge with hook 3.5 mm: 18 double crochets x 10.5 rows = 10 x 10 cm = 4’’ x 4’’.
