PROCESS:
My family and I collect individually beautiful leaves of all species in the fall season and preserve them for use throughout the year.
Shells, we gather on family vacations to the shore. Occasionally, friends and customers send them to me for use in custom orders.

The objects are pressed into the damp surface of the hand thrown forms at the "leather hard" stage of drying, which is usually the day after they are made.

Once dry and fired once, all pieces are brushed with an iron oxide wash, which is then wiped off to reveal the textured imprint in the surface.
Glaze is applied and the piece fires for a second time to a higher temperature.

I was immediately taken by the textural contrast between the bisque body of the mug and the beautiful blue glazed lip and handle. The embossed leaves add the perfect subtle touch and make each piece unique. I debated between the larger & smaller versions. After ordering the 16 oz. size I worried that it might be too heavy for my arthritic hands, but it is nicely balanced and comfortable to use. It was double-boxed and arrived via Priority Mail. I would not hesitate to purchase from Julia again.

Great mug! I love all my pieces from this artist but this one with the leaves is my new favorite. Perfect size and fits perfectly in the hand. Beautifully crafted. Shipped quick and packaged nicely for gift giving or keeping 🙂. Thank you!
