Nippon Moriage Condensed Milk Container Antique Hand Painted RC Nippon Porcelain 1911

Antique Moriage Nippon condensed milk containers/jars were used to camouflage a can of condensed milk, which, because of the lack of refrigeration, was used on a daily basis in the 1800s. The hole in the bottom of the jar was used to push the can easily out of the jar after use.

Made with bright white porcelain, the six-sided condensed milk jar is ornately decorated with raised hand painted gold gilt moriage and delicate pink roses and green leaves. The jar and lid handle (finial) are painted with gold gilt - along with the edges of the lid, jar and plate.

The Nippon condensed milk container/jar has the early and desired "Hand Painted RC (Royal Crockery) Nippon" mark, a sought after mark among collectors, used from 1911 through 1921 when the word Nippon was no longer used as a back stamp.

The set measures 6 inches tall, is 5 1/2 inches from handle to handle, with the saucer measuring 5 1/2 inches across.

I found no cracks, chips, repairs, or scratches. There is minor wear on some of the gold.

Shipping includes Priority Shipping, Insurance and Signature Confirmation.
