Transition Techniques neurodivergent-friendly Guided Workbook

“Transitions” is a guided workbook that Irene created to help you understand why your neurodivergence can make it difficult to transition effectively, the negative impacts that may have on you, and better ways to integrate transitions into your day-to-day life.

It can oftentimes feel like we as a society don’t quite understand just how much our struggles with transitions truly affect us on a day-to-day basis.

The ugly truth is that Autism research is still so underdeveloped, let alone the existence and integration of Autism-friendly practices. To create this workbook--Irene had to consolidate a lot of information that she's gathered from multiple resources, her lived experience as a woman living with AuDHD, her years of experience working with Autistic individuals, and knowledge as a previous behavioral technician. She utilizes multiple tools to make the information more digestible and accessible to neurodivergent brains such as using visuals and metaphors to explain these concepts to those who may otherwise have a hard time understanding.

It's unacceptable that autism information only scratches the surface…we know that Autists struggle with transitions but we don’t know WHY we struggle, HOW we struggle, or WHAT to actually do about it outside of forcing ourselves to stop tasks when we need to and start tasks when we need to. But all these methods, although makes it look like we are “functioning” on the surface, leads us to significantly struggle in our personal lives.

A big reason why we can struggle so much with chronic nervous system dysregulation is because of how horrendously we are educated on what it means to properly transition ourselves from one activity to the next.

With this workbook, Irene hopes to at least give neurodivergent folks a better starting point
in terms of understanding what it means to integrate actual autism-friendly/ neurodivergent-friendly ways to approach transitions in our day-to-day lives.
