Woodcut, edition of 20.
Print 20 by 11 inches, paper 24 by 18 inches.
Handprinted with wooden spoon (Japanese style).
Wood use for carving: yellow pine.
Ink: oil.

(Note: a woodcut is a print lifted from a wooden block that has been carved so that the negative space is the white in the image. So while it may look like a drawing, it is much more a carving than a drawing.)

Woodcut from 1993. A nod to Albrecht Dürer.

This theme (Adam & Eve) has traditionally been called The Fall of Man. To me, however, until the couple was cast out of Eden, they could not properly be called human. Only once they are faced with the full responsability of being can they truly be called alive.
