The Gazi Pir is a legendary Muslim saint, also known as Gazi Saiyad Ibrahim, who is said to have lived in the Sundarbans, a mangrove area formed by the confluence of the Ganges, Brahmaputra and Meghna Rivers.

The scroll is likely from the 18th or 19th century and is a part of the Gazi scrolls of Bengal. The painting is an illustration of the story of Gazi Pir and his connection with crocodiles, who are considered as his companions. The painting depicts Gazi Pir sitting on the back of a crocodile in the Sundarbans, surrounded by other crocodiles. He is often depicted holding a sword and a dorje, which are symbols of his spiritual power.
