Garnet- Garnets are a group of cubic silicates containing, in most common and accessible forms, one or several of either iron, calcium, aluminum, chromium or magnesium. The garnet crystal system is isometric, and garnets commonly form in dodecahedrons. They are usually found in mica schists. The durability and endurance factors of garnet make it a mineral which supports personal power and dignity. Especially in the red varieties, garnet enhances commitment and communion in love and unity. It promotes fealty and loyalty, and can be thought of as the classic stone of chivalry. It was thought to ward off physical harm, especially during the time of knights and holy wars. It is the best choice to represent the sign of Capricorn or the month of January, because it strengthens ease in responsibility and public affairs. It deepens familial bonds and encourages honoring elders and the aged. Deep colors of garnet cleanse the bladder, colon, kidneys, liver, intestines and stomach, and purify the blood while benefiting circulation. All garnets are Healers in the Spiritual Apothecary. Garnet is the state mineral of Connecticut and the state gem of New York. Star garnet is the state gem of Idaho. Garnet is the January birthstone.

Almandine (Red or Spessartine)- Almandine is iron aluminosilicate. In older times, it was called carbuncle. Red garnet stimulates blood flow and inspires love of life as well as survival instinct. Deep red almandine has the needed iron to cure anemia. Drawing energy from deep inside, creativity is inspired during meditation with this mineral. It enhances all areas of passion. (1st chakra)
