This Portable Hug's mission is to tell someone that we're thinking of them.
Give it to a child for whom separation or adaptation to a new environment is difficult. (daycare, school, new environment).
Why not treat yourself?
Being kind to yourself only feels good.
It is entirely handmade.
Each piece begins with recycled tinplate that I melt in my workshop.
I have 3 choices to offer you:
BRENNUS: The original matrix was created in France in the early 1900s.
VICTORIAN UNICORN: The original matrix was created in France in the early 1900s.
HEART: The original matrix was created around 1940-50.
I also offer the following options:
The choice of attachment.
The choice of cutting.
Random: The edges are not cut, they are raw, after being pressed.
Round: I use a disc designed for cutting metal.
Oval: I use a disc designed for cutting metal.
So these are historical reproductions hand pressed from historically inspired pieces while using ancient techniques.
Which gives UNIQUE pieces.
My anchor pebble, here they are Portable Cuddles with a chain.
They attach to a trouser strap, a backpack, a handbag,
wherever you want. So always have it on hand.
It symbolizes strength, tenacity, comfort.
I chose it to remember the efforts we made to achieve success.
Aspirations demonstrate the ups and downs that the person has had to overcome and that they must not give up.
Refocusing on the present when old demons resurface.
This is the solution to hold out.
CREATION PROCESS:
Everything is done by hand.
I melt my tin. There is no lead.
Then I run it through the specific 20 ton (40,000 lbs per inch) hydraulic press several times.
I did this by letting the pebble take the shape that the press gave it.
I leave the edges of the piece raw.
As a craftswoman I find that it offers a more natural pebble and less of a machine-made medal.
I also offer the option of cutting.
Afterwards, the room is cleaned.
Next comes the patina process to bring out all the details of the craftsman who created it over 100 years ago.
The patina is applied and there is a technique that follows to really highlight the relief.
I apply a protector to preserve this patina.
In my creative process of such a piece, it demonstrates the efforts, the arduous side of such an achievement.
This is what I wanted to demonstrate.
I had this piece in mind for all forms of combat.
