Description

Mardi Gras is Tuesday, March 13, 2018, but the parades start January 6. If you're heading to New Orleans or a Mardi Gras celebration in your town, this would be perfect to wear. Guys could wear it as a boutonniere on a jacket. These look great on hats too.

I found this cotton Fleur de Lys fabric in the Mardi Gras colors of purple, green and yellow. According to Wikipedia, "Following Hurricane Katrina, the fleur-de-lis has been widely used in New Orleans as a symbol of grassroots support for New Orleans' recovery." The fleur-de-lis on this fabric are outlined in glittery gold.

I hand sewed this flower using the kanzashi method, which is somewhat like origami. I start with squares of fabric and fold and shape them into petals, which I then sew together. This is based on a traditional Japanese art practiced by geishas.

This fabric pin is very lightweight and will not sag on even a delicate fabric. This also makes it easy to ship as a gift.

The flower pin measures 3" (8 centimeters) across. It is finished with a circle of felt with a goldtone jewelry pin securely sewn onto the back.

Your flower will ship USPS First Class Mail in a sturdy box with Delivery Confirmation for most addresses, see "Shipping" for more info and to find out about expedited shipping.

Your flower will arrive boxed for giving...see last photo. Let me know if it's a gift and I'll leave the gift enclosure blank for you to fill in.

Additional policies

I do the best I can to show the color of each item and describe it accurately, however be aware that colors appear different from one monitor to the next.

Please note that these flowers are made of fabric. Many of the flowers are constructed from starched and ironed fabric. If you run them through the washing machine, they may be ruined. If they get very wet, they may droop. They are not designed to be mauled by groups of toddlers. You should store them out of direct sunlight, to avoid fabric fading.

I LOVE custom orders. They allow me to work with you to create something I may not have thought of on my own. I request prepayment on custom orders.

For bridal parties, or other orders of multiple flowers, 10 items or more, I may be able to give you a discount. Please let me know what your needs are and I will give you a bulk price.

Please convo me to inquire about wholesale orders or consignment.
