Bellamy Eagle with Liberty Banner
Materials: pine, acrylic paint, bright gold enamel paint
I made this eagle in the style of a late 1800s carver, John Bellamy, who became quite famous for creating eagles for the shipbuilding industry. Working in this dramatic style has been a favorite way for me to create these patriotic carvings.
The head is a separate piece of 3/4" pine glued to the 3/4" pine body and carved to flow with the figure. There is a staff and flowing banner that reads "Liberty" above the eagle , and he is holding a red, white and blue flag banner..
All of my work is hand-carved using custom chisels, knives and gouges. The only power I use is a band saw for the preliminary outline. There is a metal serrated bracket on the back for hanging. The overall measurement is approximately 26" x 10" and it has been given an aged finish using acrylic paints.
I can customize this piece by having the eagle face left and the banner saying and color can be changed to suit your needs. Please contact me if you wish to have it customized. That change would make the delivery1-2 weeks.
All of my work is proudly signed and dated for identification.
This is a perfect piece for anyone who loves America!

It’s a beautiful piece. We’ve placed it in a prominent place on the outside of our barn. I’m sure will become a family heirloom. Rich is a wonderful artist, and I highly recommend his work. One suggestion: verify the colors you would like. Our eagle came with an orange beak instead of a yellow one, but I didn’t specify beforehand.
Looks great in my study. Great quality product. Would highly recommend.
Fantastic service by Rich. Customized eagle to fit space over garage perfectly. Paint finish exactly as requested. Highly recommend!
Amazing quality. Incredibly happy with how this turned out. Rich was able to customize the eagle for me. Fast turn around and shipping time. It was packed so carefully. Rich could really charge a lot more for his work. I can’t wait to hang this on the wall
