This is a step-by-step guide to creating Etegami, a Japanese postcard art that combines simple hand-painted images with handwritten words on washi postcards. As far as I know, it is the first of its kind in English. The book is divided into 22 brief chapters that lead the reader through the origins, the materials, the process, and the possibilities of the art of Etegami. It includes links to online suppliers of etegami materials and tools. Please take note of the dimensions (below) and be warned that it is a very SMALL book, but it is packed to the gills with content.
Dimensions of the book: small square, 7 inches x 7 inches (approx 17 cm x 17 cm). Total of 60 pages featuring 60+ different photographs, including the front and back cover.

5 out of 5 starsThis little book is a GEM! I received it as I was walking out the door for my flight to Tokyo and was thrilled to read it on the plane. While I have a book in Japanese, I love how Debbie explains the steps in great detail, emphasizing the stillness in the strokes (and in English!). When I return from Tokyo, I plan to set a goal of doing an etagami-a-day for 30 days over the summer. Thank you, Debbie, for writing such a great book!!!

LOVE Debbie's book and purchased it as part of a kit for a raffle at Japan Festival Houston. Debbie's clear instructions and clever etegami paintings make for a fantastic book!
