David Haviland truly changed the world when he moved to Limoges in central France. Already successful in New York City, he opened a new factory when he discovered Limoges. The Kaolin found there is the purest white clay in the world. Havialnd Porcelain is now iconic because of its beauty and quality.

This Fruit Bowl has the Mark I manufacturer’s Backmark (Haviland France), which was used from 1894 through 1931. The Mark c decorator’s Backmark (Haviland & Co. Limoges) is also used, but doesn’t narrow the time period.

The pattern is of delicate pink flowers with pale green leaves. I looked everywhere, but can’t identify the pattern exactly. It’s very close to Schleiger 29. But truthfully, all the patterns started to look alike. This is exactly why I should not be allowed to own Haviland!

The bowl is in very good condition with one really small chip at the rim.
