Description

ABOUT THIS STYLE:

The look of a 1940s detective. With a retro cut, hand prick-stitched lapels, a classic length, full, slightly roped shoulders, and a modern slim cut waist.

A 3 button style cut where the top button is meant to be left unbuttoned and rolls naturally between the second and third buttons.

Cut from gorgeous 11oz retro flannels that are heavier and more durable that what you get in the shops.

The jacket is shown with a custom pair of purple flannel trousers in a modern slim leg/cuffed style, and one of our wool felt fedoras.

But this is just one example of a jacket that we can make. You choose the fabric and details and we cut a piece just for your body.

The price above is just for the jacket, but we can make all the pieces pictured (except for the shoes)!

1909 BESPOKE:

These are our completely custom handmade jackets and suits. Each suit is crafted for an individual customer based on his tastes and lifestyle, and the price of the suit includes us spending 4 hours on designing your suit alone and sketching ideas.

These suits are completely patterned, cut, and sewn here in our studio in Denver, Colorado.

The name "1909 Bespoke" reflects the fact that the most interesting period for men's suits was the period between 1909 and 1921. Men wore suits for almost every activity, and they had a wealth of styles and details to choose from that were eventually lost to mass production.

These suits are made from heavier woolen fabrics than you find on suits today and have a genuine texture and heft. Alternately, these styles can be made in linens and seersuckers for summer wear.

Each suit features hand prick-stitching on the lapels, a handmade decorative buttonhole, and Edwardian style hand-embroidered tacks on the pockets.

THE MUSLIN FITTING PROCESS:

The price of this jacket includes our most thorough fitting process. For these suits, we ask you to provide measurements (that can be taken at home---and we will provide a measuring tape) and then we cut and sew a complete mock-up of the jacket in cotton fabric.

You try this on and send us digital pictures of yourself wearing it. Based on these pictures, we will adjust for posture, asymmetry, and preference in addition to fit. This means that every aspect of the piece can be completely customized to your body and look in every way.

These jackets are guaranteed to fit just the way you want them to, and if anything doesn't feel right, we are glad to make further adjustments.

When I approached AJ for this custom Ike jacket, I was reading a biography on Dwight Eisenhower and felt the curiosity to design my own Ike jacket. Recently, I received the jacket from AJ. Honestly, I feel like leaving 5 stars does not even do the jacket or AJ's craftsmanship justice! It's just such a beautiful jacket and so well constructed with care! The wool fabric is so sturdy yet comfortable and the entire jacket is warm yet light. Easily my new favorite jacket for spring and autumn!

Although the process from design to finish took over a season, I think every second is worth the wait because of AJ's patience and friendly service. Not only does AJ listen to the customer's needs but he always answers with excellent advice and suggestions that helped me throughout the process. I highly recommend AJ's shop! Thank you!

I cancelled the order and let him keep the deposit. He didn't "get it". The final straw was when he pretty much let me know I was being "difficult" so I backed off and waited two weeks - no communication. When I contacted him, it was obvious my project had been left untouched the whole time. When it be clear I was going to have to spoonfeed him the whole project, I gave up. It was my first etsy purchase and I have been left older and wiser.

MacheteNSons responded

I sent Kevin 7 initial options for a velvet collar trim. When he didn't like my the colors, I sent him links to 100s of more options and offered to mail him swatches. Unfortunately, he resented that he would need to "spoonfeed" us all of the details and that we just didn't "get it". If a client doesn't like the fabrics we send, we will keep sending links and mailing physical swatches until he finds what he wants. We are used to "difficult" clients and projects - that is just what we do :) But if a client both doesn't like my suggestions - dislikes having to choose a fabric himself from a very large selection - and additionally doesn't want a refund, but just wants to teach me a "lesson", there is nothing left to do. Ordering custom clothing and choosing your own fabrics can be a lot of work!

This shop is absolutely phenomenal when it comes to crafting masterpiece jackets. I have no complaints at all on this custom order. AJ stayed in touch and responded in a timely manner as well as provided expert advice on materials for this jacket.
My first custom order and definitely not my last. If you need a masterpiece jacket from a master craftsman look no further.
