~~~Basic Washing Instructions~~~
Rinse with cold water until the water runs clear then place in a wet bag, container or lingerie mesh bag until you're ready to wash them. It is extremely important that they are stored where there is proper air flow. Pads WILL grow mildew and mold if left wet. You can also apply some type of stain remover at this stage.
When you're ready to wash them simply do it by hand or machine wash them with the rest of your laundry. Wash in cold or warm water, I don't recommend hot water. Do not use fabric softener, it adds a coating and will prevent your pads from absorbing. Do not bleach.
Tumble dry low air dry.
Cloth Menstrual Pads: This is a personal care product I am unable to accept returns on cloth menstrual pads for hygienic reasons. I highly recommend that you only buy one or two pads from a seller to ensure you like the shape, feel, absorbency and thickness of the pad. Try a bunch of sellers and see what suits you. :-)
Customs delays or damages are possible and are beyond my control and responsibility. International shipments should arrive in 2-8 weeks, but due to variables such as customs, I am unable to guarantee delivery by a certain date. ~~Packages Lost in Transit~~
Bad weather and major holidays will incur much longer shipping times than the standard 3-5 days on First Class Items. Allow up to 10 days after receiving your shipping notification and then notify me. I'll submit "Missing in Transit" form with USPS. Usually once I inquire about a package it comes back onto the radar. Afterward please allow additional time (generally 5-10 days) and check the tracking to see if your package has started to move toward it's destination before determining it is possibly Lost in Transit.
If your package is not located after investigation period and I have insured your package, refunds will occur after insurance affidavits are filled out by purchaser, signed and submitted to the insurer.
~~Item Delivered to incorrect address / Delivered but not received~~
If your order tracking shows as delivered but you did not receive it Do Not Panic. I won't leave you to fend for yourself and will help you locate your package. Items that show 'delivered' usually DO turn up a day or two later. Follow these steps:
1. First check with other members of your household to see if it has already been brought inside for you
2. Check with neighbors to see if it was left by the carrier at their home
3. If you were unable to find it contact your serving Post Office. Your delivering Post Office will have more information regarding the missing package. Give them the tracking number and package description I have provided to you and request to speak with your carrier. Oftentimes your carrier remembers where your package was left.
4.I will contact your post office to report the lost item, and speak with your carrier to further verify where your package has been delivered.
5. If the package is not located after my and your investigation with the postal service, I will fill out a USPS Stolen Mail/Theft form. The Post Office takes mail theft very seriously, postal theft is a federal offense and you will be required to sign an affidavit that you did not receive your order.
6. Once I receive notice of the signed affidavit from you, I will either issue you a full refund or replace your order at your request.
~~Damaged Goods~~
Contact me within 7 days of receipt. Do not throw away damaged packaging!
Please send me photos of the damaged product and the damaged package. If your order was insured, your assistance will be required to sign an insurance affidavit. After I have received the photos and affidavit I will process a full refund or replacement to your order.
Cloth Pad FAQ
Ewww!?!? Why would I want to use cloth?
I admit I found the idea of reusable cloth pads repulsive at first. But then the longer I thought about it, the more I realized it really wasn't that different from a stained pair of underwear or bed sheets. Plus they are far more breathable and comfortable than plastic disposables that resemble band aids.
How do I care for my pads?
There are several ways to clean your pads after you've used them, you can decide which method is right for you. ****If you're using them for urinary incontinence then I would skip the below recommendations and simply throw them in the wash with your laundry.****
1) The Long Soak
Remove pad and rinse under cold water until the water runs clear. Store in a bucket of water with a bit of detergent (or even essential oils, you just need something to help with the smell) until you're ready to wash them. If you're fussy about stains you can add oxygen bleach (oxiclean or similar) to the water. I used to use this method, but I found it is better only if your pads will be in the water for a couple of days otherwise your fabric will begin to degrade and the integrity of your pads is compromised.
2) The Quick Shower Method (My favorite)
Fold the pads after you have used them and store them in either an OPENED wet bag, lingerie mesh bag, or pillowcase (the more air circulation the better! It helps prevent odor) until the end of your cycle. About an hour or two before you take a shower, fill a bucket with cold water, unfold and immerse your pads in the water. Now the fun part! When you're ready to take your shower dump your pads and the water into the bottom of your shower, spread them out a bit and then shower. The mixture of you walking on your pads and the water and soap from your shower will get your pads pretty clean. I always purposely stomp on them to make sure the water from them runs clear before I exit the shower. If you're not fussy about stains, they are ready to go into the wash. Otherwise you can take your bucket, fill it with hot water and a scoop of oxygen bleach (like oxiclean) and soak your pads in it until the stains lift. Then simply wash them as normal.
3) Super lazy
Fold your pads after you've used them and store them in either a OPENED wet bag or lingerie mesh bag until the end of your cycle. Then throw them in the wash. Depending on how heavy your flow is you may want to wash them by themselves.
How long do cloth pads usually last?
I would say about 75 washes or 6 years. But this depends on how many you have in rotation, how you treat them and your washing practices. There are some folks how have had their pads for 8 or so years. Of course they will no longer look pretty but they should still be functional.
How many do I need?
This depends on you and your budget. The more pads you have in rotation, the longer they will last. I recommend about 20 or so pads so they each only get used once per cycle but this is not necessary. You can make a chart and estimate how many you will need and go from there ( 6 for heavy days, 4 for moderate, 3 for light, etc). I don't recommend that you buy a large amount from one seller because it can take some trial and error to figure out what you need, what shapes you prefer and what materials.
All these materials are confusing!
Flat cotton- Quilting cotton, cool fabric, mildly absorbent, stays prettier longer than flannel but may take a bit longer to absorb
Flannel- Quick to absorb and comfortable, like flannel PJs, coolish, moderately absorbent, begins to pill a bit and fade but stays comfortable.
Minky- Bulky, made from polyester but stains less and holds up a bit better to abuse. Soft buttery feel.
Bamboo Velour- Quick Absorbent top layer, soft with a nap similar to minky but a natural product. Has a buttery soft feel. May lose some of the softness with age and wear as the nap begins to flatten a bit.
Cotton velour- Quick Absorbent top layer with a soft but stiff nap, and a dry feel to it. Usually contains minimal polyester for stability.
I prefer tampons.
Try menstrual cups! They are a great alternative to tampons and last many years with proper care.
