Theodore Haviland continued the work of his father David. The Havilands truly changed the world when they moved to Limoges in central France. The Kaolin found there is the purest white clay in the world. Havialnd Porcelain is now iconic because of its beauty and quality.

This Salad Plate has an Impressed manufacturer’s Backmark M (TH initials topped with a banner). The Mark p decorator’s Backmark is also used. This Backmark says “Theodore Haviland” with the first name underlined, “Limoges France Patent applied for.” This is what dates the piece to 1903.

The pattern is of delicate blue Forget-Me-Nots with pink ribbons. I tried to identify the pattern exactly but after a few hours my eyes crossed!

The plate is in excellent condition.
