The Year of the Snake (2025)
The Lunar (or Chinese) New Year is celebrated on the first new moon of the lunar calendar, whose months are moon cycles.
The Snake is the sixth of the 12-year cycle of animals which appear in the
Chinese zodiac related to the Chinese calendar.
It symbolizes wisdom, transformation and resilience.

The popular Chinese word 福 (Fu) is used throughout the Lunar New Year celebrations. It means fortune, happiness, blessing and good luck. In many households it is used as decoration all year long.
You can use each pattern to decorate any item or you can make this mug rug with one or both of them.
You will receive both of the patterns shown on the pictures above: the Chinese snake and the Chinese Symbol Fu.

You should have prior experience with foundation paper piecing (FPP) as there are no instructions provided. Each individual block will have a finished size of 6"x6". However, there is also a 4"x4" version of the Fu pattern provided in order to make the mug rug pattern shown in the pictures.
This ready-to-download pattern comes with an assembly instruction, instruction on fabric usage and the printable FPP templates.
