The ground plane, or jungle, antenna is a different configuration of the vertical dipole that has a more favorable geometry without sacrificing gain.

The antenna is pyramid shaped, with a vertical radiator and 3 radials angling down and away.

The antenna is fed from the center hub with a female BNC connector and the feed line can hang straight down.

There are 3 struts that slide down to hold the radials apart.

An isolation ring is located at the end of the vertical element, to make it easier to hang and secure the antenna.

The isolation ring is labeled with the frequencies for which the antenna is tuned, to make it easy to identify.

The vertical element also folds down to make storage and transport easier.

To deploy, simply unfold the vertical element, slide each strut down to hold the radials appart, attach the feedline to the hub, and hang the antenna!

The antenna comes pre-assembled and is one piece.

- I personally cut, solder, crimp, assemble, and test every antenna.
- The central "Jungle Hub" is UV resistant, impact resistant, and fully potted (polymer filled) to seal the internal connections away from the elements.
- The BNC female connector is from Amphenol RF, providing a lifetime of use.
- The antenna wire is 14 gauge stranded copper with a polyethylene jacket. It stands up to repeated flexing without kinking.
- The struts are semi-rigid and will return to their original shape if bent. They are also cold and UV resistant.
- Easily handles 100W+.
- The cable sleeves are aluminum. No rust!
- The isolation ring is labeled with the tuned band.
- The antenna is suitable for outdoor installation. (Note: For long term outdoor installation, we recommend using a coax connection sealer such as Coax-Seal to maintain performance. We also recommend securing the antenna to prevent twisting.)

FAQ

Will the struts become brittle in the cold?

No. I've tested the struts to below -20F (-29C) with no loss in flexibility.


The power handling capability is listed as 100W+. What does that mean?

I use real antenna wire and connectors that are meant for amateur radio use. While I haven't tested the product at more than 50W, the limits of my gear, I have no reason to believe the antennas can't handle up to legal limit on their respective bands.
