I recommend handwashing only: soak for an hour or few in a bucket of cool water with neutral liquid wool/silk detergent, keep agitation to a minimum (prevent felting). Reshape whilst damp and dry flat on a towel. If you want to carefully iron it once dry, use a warm-only wool setting and, for best results, place the iron on a damp teatowel. During the first wash plant dyed wool can release some color. Be careful with strong acids and alkalines - it can damage or change plant dyed colours.

Dyeing with plants gives the most beautiful colours and I believe it holds energy of a plant as well. It goes through so many stages - picking plants in the forest, cleaning it, drying, boiling, simmering, soaking, washing... Each time colours come out at least a little bit different and that is the magic of this technology! Colors are very subtile and they all match each other. These shades are very hard to describe and don`t fit into "normal" color categories, but I am doing my best to describe it show it in photos :)

Wool and plants for dyeing

Most of my wool comes from small wool mills or local farmers. This is my way to support small busines and keep my shop environment friendly. I gather most of the dye stuff myself in fieds and forests. I do not use endangered species and don`t harm environment in any other way. Barks are collected from fallen or legally cut (in order to keep the forest clean) trees. Some of the plants are grown by my parents in their garden - japanese indigo, woad, madder, yew, apple trees, plum and many more. Exotic plants or the ones that I can`t find in my local area come from farms which respect the environment and comply with organic textile certifications.

- Tracking in Canada and Australia is available only with express shipping. - Please get in touch with me if you haven`t received your order in 5-8 weeks. - Lost items will be refunded (If they haven`t reached you within 3-5 months). - Damaged in transition items will be refunded. Please send me a photo of the item in its original packing. - Overpaid shipping will be refunded. - Buyers are responsible for providing the correct shipping address and contact information. - Buyers are responsible for collecting packages from the post office and accepting packages from couriers.

Cats and dogs occasionally visit my studio. If you are allergic then please do not hesitate to contact me and we will figure this out!

- If the item is as described but you wish to return it, then the price of the item will be refunded minus shipping costs. - Buyer is responsible for return shipping costs and refunds will be sent after the item reaches our shop in its original condition. - If the item is not as described then the buyer will get a full refund after the item is shipped back to the seller unless otherwise agreed via messages. - If the item was returned to the shop because the package wasn`t collected from the post office, wasn`t accepted from a courier, or the address and contacts were wrongly provided by the buyer then we can issue a refund for the item minus shipping costs. Also, we can send it again if the buyer agrees to pay re-shipment costs.

Information about natural dye extracts:

First and foremost, a small amount of extract goes a long way. Colorants are extracted from dyestuff in an eco-friendly manner that conserves space while retaining all dyeing properties. With the extract, you need 5 to 10 times less than the original dye. For example, 10 grams of madder extract can stand in for 100 grams of dried madder roots.
