You may not recognize the name Slim Bryant, but Les Paul sure knew him! Les Paul called guitar player Slim Bryant his idol; and the two jammed together on January 11, 1949, the inaugural broadcast of WDTV, Pittsburgh’s first commercial TV station.

Slim Bryant is credited as the first country guitarist to infuse jazz and pop harmonies into the music. He had a performing career that lasted nearly 30 years, working with country icons such as fiddler Clayton McMichen and singer Jimmie Rodgers.

Born Thomas Hoyt Bryant, he was called Slim by his friends. "Loppy" was Slim's brother Raymond; the Wildcats sometimes were known as the Georgia Wildcats.

The album is Square Dances With Calls & Instructions, by Slim Bryant & His Wildcats, "Loppy" Bryant, Caller. Full Fidelity Lion LP, #L70070, copyright Loew's Inc.

No date; circa 1953, part of Slim Bryant's record deal with MGM.

LP plays at 33 1/3 RPM.

Conditions: Album cover has some signs of age/wear, including the usual split at the back center and bottom edge (where the round record has worn it's way through.) The vinyl is really nice. At least a VG+. Has been tested and plays just fine!
