The first major campaign for women's suffrage in the U.S. was in 1867. Susan B. Anthony used the sunflower, Kansas' state flag, as a symbol for their cause. Soon after yellow flowers and ribbons became emblematic of the Women's Rights Movement. In 1916 Alice Paul modified the flag used by the British Suffragettes to represent the American Suffragettes with the colors gold, white, and violet.

The colors and shapes of the Women's Rights flag represent:
- Gold - represents the sunflower; "the color of light and life, is as the torch that guides our purpose, pure and unswerving"
- White - suffragists were often portrayed as being "masculine and ugly", white dresses were worn during parades to symbolize femininity and purity of the suffrage cause
- Purple - loyalty and royalty; "the royal blood that flows in the veins of every suffragette, the instinct of freedom and dignity"
- Stars - each time a state ratified the Nineteenth Amendment a new star was sewn to the flag; there was enough room on the National Woman's Party flag for 36 stars (number of state ratifications required for the amendment to become law"

Each is made long enough to be worn as a bracelet or as an anklet if it needs to be hidden at work or school. This piece is designed by me and completely hand-tied. The ends are securely knotted with a beautiful braided accent for each tie.

The ties are long enough to comfortably reach up to 10 inches around, with room to tie the two sides together without needing help from someone else. If necessary, the ends can be cut to shorten the tie length without ruining the design, thanks to additional knots on the sides of the design.

These are awesome bracelets that my daughter and I will wear proudly! There was a slight hold up at the post office, and the seller got it all sorted out without me even asking!
