It's well made, but I probably will stick to the ball shaped styles if I need an other bed. This one is a little top heavy with the swirl and the base seems to be more oblong than circular, which make it a bit unstable. When my cat first stepped in it toppled over on him. I have it next to my desk and the top bit is sturdy enough to hook behind the desk leg and hold it up. It's more secure now, but the cats took a week to stop being afraid of it after the first fall.
