✦ INCLUDED IN THE PATTERN:
A step-by-step tutorial to create Mathilda, with two belly options — a "standard" closed belly or a "mama belly" with a pocket to hold baby turtles (or any tiny treasures you'd like!). This pattern includes detailed written instructions, photo guides, video tutorials, and instructions for realistic crocheted eyes.
Additionally, this listing includes an optional modification specifically designed for making Mathilda with blanket yarn, in a separate file.
This is a standalone pattern and does NOT include the Hatchling Toby pattern, but they can be purchased together at a discounted price (applied at checkout). It also does NOT include the pattern Olivia the Sea Turtle, but both can be purchased together in a 3-IN-1 where Hatchling Toby is included for free (see my other listings).

This pattern was updated on June 6th 2025, to incorporate valuable feedback from hundreds of crocheters who made Mathilda since the pattern was released in February 8th 2025. It now includes video tutorials to help with the trickier parts.

While the pattern uses simple stitches (sc, hdc, dc) and minimal sewing, it is considered an advanced pattern due to its structure, complexity, and size. The PDF is highly detailed, with step-by-step instructions, photo guides and video tutorials for extra support. This pattern is NOT SUITED FOR BEGINNERS, however, ambitious beginners or intermediate crocheters looking to challenge themselves and expand their skills are welcome to give this pattern a try!
