Description

This mismatched floral pattern mid-century silverware place setting is for casual dining, concerts in the park, picnics, etc. and falls into the category of having a few minor blemishes, but still in good vintage condition overall, so I've discounted it 25% off the price of the same type set that does not have any blemishes.

You will receive a mismatched pattern 4-piece place setting consisting of:
1 grille dinner fork - Oneida King Arthur pattern from 1941
1 Modern hollow handle knife 8 5/8" - Oneida Lady Catherine pattern from 1962
2 teaspoons - International Silver Co. Gardenia pattern from 1941 and Oneida Affection pattern from 1960
1 place/oval soup spoon - International Silver Co. Precious pattern from 1941

Some of the blemishes may be: a couple of small pits in the bowl of the spoon or on the handle, a few more scratches than usual on the fork tines or handle, a little heel wear, a piece that may have been polished many times and the pattern isn't quite as crisp as it once was, a small crease or dent in a knife handle edge, etc. In most cases, you may not even notice the flaw that I noted - most are that minor. Best of all, this set is a great value. Otherwise, you should expect surface scratches and wear from normal, occasional use.

What does Viande or Grille mean? (if applicable, noted in the detail above)
It's just a different style of knife and/or fork - features a longer handle and shorter blade or tines than a traditional dinner knife and fork. Viande Grille forks are usually a little longer overall than traditional dinner forks and the Viande Grill knife is shorter overall than a traditional dinner knife. The Viande style was made popular in the 1930's by the International Silver Company and its subdivisions. Oneida Silversmiths adopted the style as well, but it and its subdivisions refer to it as Grille instead of Viande. You'll often see these pieces referred to using both terms. The Viande or Grille style is appropriate to use for any occasion and any time of day.

Silver plate flatware should be hand washed in warm soapy water using a soft cellulose sponge and dried with a soft cotton towel. The dish soap used should be a non-lemon scented, phosphate free dish soap.

I recently polished these pieces and they are table ready. I only use high quality silver polish, no TarnX or foil and washing soda dips. Silver plate will last a lifetime if handled, polished and maintained using methods recommended for fine silver care.
