Why don't you sell bats?

THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS ETHICAL BAT TAXIDERMY. every bat you see available for purchase was unethically harvested, or even poached. Bats do not breed well in captivity, and no bat farms exist. Across many parts of the world, they are being slaughtered in huge numbers to be used as home decor. Many species are undergoing catastrophic population declines as a result of over-hunting, disease, and habitat destruction. Even when not listed as 'endangered species' many *are* listed as 'data deficient' meaning we don't have enough information to know how stable these populations really are. Where do you get your bones?

Many sources. I will often utilize bones from the leftovers of hunters and trappers, as well as (where legal) roadkill, and other found-already-dead animals. People often bring me deceased animals, such as exotic pets, that have passed away, to be made into a memento for themselves, and graciously permit me to use the remaining parts in my art. Sometimes I order bones from other places (particularly if I am looking for bones from a species not native to my region, such as alligator gar scales)

Do you carry Monarch Butterflies?

Unlike bats, butterflies can be sustainably farmed. Monarchs were recently (summer 2022) added to the endangered species list. Though they have not yet been granted any according legal protections, I have opted not to continue stocking these items until there is some clarity on the subject. At that point, I will be taking steps to ensure any monarchs I purchase for my art were in fact sustainably captive reared/farmed, and not taken from wild populations.

This Chunky Ruby Serpentine Ring has a Wide Adjustable band made of Silver Plated Brass, set with a Naturally Fluorescent (UV Reactive) Red Corundum Gemstone, the Birthstone of July.

Ruby is a naturally fluorescent mineral, with a strong red glow when exposed to UV light. I used a 365nm light for the photos in this listing.

As pictured, it is approximately size 7, with room to adjust upwards.
