Listeriosis cross stitch, completed in 3" round natural wood embroidery hoop
---The Story---
GERMS! They're everywhere. You can't avoid them, not entirely -- so why not incorporate them into your decor?
If you're into science, or just germs, or cleanliness, or if you're a hypochondriac, you might like to see your interests/worst fears immortalized in stitchwork. Luckily, now you can.
This listing is for one listeriosis microbe. +Listeriosis is a disease caused by the listeria bacterium in food, and while for most people it causes nonspecific symptoms, a diagnosis of listeriosis means the bacteria has spread beyond the intestines and invaded other parts of the body. In pregnant women, listeriosis can be very serious and lead to stillbirth, miscarriage, or other complications. It can also cause meningitis (and inflammation of the meninges in the brain and spinal cord), though most meningitis in the U.S. is caused by viruses and not by bacteria.
---The Deets---
This listing is for just what you see in the first two pictures: one completed brown, pink and blue microbe with the common name stitched in black at the bottom of a 3" natural wood embroidery hoop.
This microbe is part of a series of microbe and germ cross stitches that will feature a variety of brightly-colored microscopic viruses/bacteria/etc, each stitched on white Aida cloth and framed in 3" natural wood hoop frames. Find more in the Microbes and Germs section of my shop (linked below), where the other pictured microbes are also available.
The back of each germ or microbe will be protected by loose felt that clings to the back; the felt will not be glued to the hoop, in order to allow for easier cleaning and re-stretching, should that become necessary.
*CUSTOMIZE: If you would like three or more microbes, look for special listings in the Microbes section of my shop, or convo me to request a special order.
I love custom orders; let me know if you're looking for a microbe you don't see here, and I'll stitch it for you!
*SHIP: This stitch will be made to order and sent via USPS first class (with delivery confirmation) or international first class mail within about a week of your order, usually sooner, unless I convo you otherwise or a shipping delay is noted in my policies, shop banner or shop announcement (below the banner).
It will ship as pictured to anywhere in the world, and excess s&h charges will be refunded (especially for international orders, as it's hard to predict the weight in advance).
*GIFT WRAP: Let me know if you are giving this microbe as a gift, and I'll wrap it up in plain paper and include a little notecard for your "to" and "from" -- or tell me if you'd like me to send it directly to the recipient and what message you'd like to include, and I'll write it out for you before I pop it in the mail.

+I am no kind of medical expert, and anything I know about the microbes in this series of stitches or that I appear to know, I learned from the internet. : ) NO PART of my listings or any other ramblings should be construed as ANY KIND of medical advice, because it's not.
