The pen was finished with a durable cyanoacrylate for shine and durability. The pen is postable (meaning that the cap can be fastened to the "opposite end" while writing), as shown in the fourth photo. I personally prefer writing with the cap off (and displayed proudly on the desk!) as shown in the second picture.

The pen has rollerball gel ink and uses Schmidt-style refills that are available at most office stores. It ships in a foam and velvet lined protective box.

Koa wood is native to Hawaii and only grows on the Hawaiian islands. Koa wood is rare and prized, not only because it is beautiful but also because wood can only be harvest from trees that fall naturally. As a result, koa is one of the world's most expensive woods.

The pen measures just under 5.5" when both pieces are screwed together and the wood is approximately .5" across at its widest point (under the clip).
