Although this Tahitian black pearl necklace is similar to my own signature pearl necklace, the pearls on this piece are more uniform in shape and more lustrously vibrant in color. Made with unique baroque pearls, the Day of the Dead sugar skull charm reverses to the words, "Love Never Dies."

Measuring 19 1/2 inches (49.5 cm) in total length, these saltwater pearls have dark charcoal gray to fully black bodies with vibrant colorful overtones and shiny, lustrous surfaces. Each pearl is deeply circled with naturally formed rings and colors that shift between shades of beetle wing green, peacock, pink, cherry and blue. As I've tried to show in the photos there are surface variations and some minor natural blemishes that remind us these beautiful pearls were made by nature. Individual pearls graduate in size from 8.5mm (smallest pearl) to 11mm (largest pearl).

Hand knotted on durable, washable Spectra. The pewter charm was handmade by Green Girl Studios. The hammered toggle clasp and findings are sterling silver and will develop some patina over time.This is an intentional part of the necklace design. If desired, a bright finish can be restored with silver polish, however care must be taken not to polish the pearls as this may damage their fine lustre.

All photographs were taken in natural diffused light and these pearls will shift in color depending on the source and time of day. Sometimes they will appear more iridescent green and peacock, which are the dominant colors in this strand. Other times they will appear more blue with subtle pink highlights. I would consider these to be the secondary colors. When the vibrant colorful overtones are feeling shy, the dark body colors will be more prominent, and of course they will shift subtly depending on the colors you choose to wear. Pearls truly are amazing natural gems and if you love Tahitian circle pearls, as I do, I don't think you can possibly be disappointed with this strand.
